Fishing… it’s not rocket science. It’s a “little bit” what bait you use and “a lot” where the hungry fish are. Some days you’re the windshield, some days you’re the bug. If people could predict where and when the hungry fish were, we’d call it “Catchin” instead of “Fishin.” Fishing ponds is like shooting fish in a barrel sometimes. And typically the hungry fish are near the shoreline looking for small bait fish or a place to “hook up.” LOL get it, hook up? uh huh. Bass fishing is FUN! But… sometimes the little guys about 1 to 2 lbs are just relentless and the big bass watch and learn. Big Bass take their time! They like slow moving dumb stuff like crawfish, some kind of invertebrate or a little teeny bug on the surface as an oar dervy. The biggest fish I’ve caught was on a little curly tail jig 1/16 oz tied on 10lb test line… threw it out next to a sailboat and POOF something got it in a big swirl. I knew it was a bass but… it wasn’t actin’ right. It didn’t fight all that hard, it just slowly came up to the edge of the boat and I thought I was gonna have a Heart Attack! WOW! It was a HUGE Bass. It was hooked in the top of the lip, barely, and it was coming to ME! Then, it slowly rolled left, the jig came loose and off she went. I guess she wanted to see my face as she swam off… hope she got an eye full. -Capt G
