Boy, Girl and Cub Scouts!

As Captain and Owner of Dolphin Charters LLC Captain Garry also volunteers to help others learn to fish. Some years back Capt Garry became a Certified SC DNR Fishing Instructor for both Salt and Freshwater fishing.

Recently Capt Garry was asked to be lead instructor for the Boy/Girl/Cub Scout Camporee at Mission Lake in Gaston SC. Over 120 Scouts from Greenville, Charleston, Columbia and all of the Indian / Pee Dee Councils joined together over a long weekend to learn new skills like boating and fishing.

Capt Garry provided the equipment and a "booth" set up on the side of the dam on one of the lakes at the Mission Lake complex. Amy Widener coordinated the event and helped Capt Garry with all of the groups. Each troop was given a 1 hour time slot and 3 or 4 Scouts from 4yrs to 16yrs old shared a rod and reel using cork rig and a worm. SC DNR provided their Fish ID Guides used to identify the catch.

A GREAT TIME was had by ALL! The winner? EVERYBODY! But the Star of the Show was a 4yr old NEW Fisherperson who reeled in a 2 lb Largemouth Bass! Boy was HE SURPRISED! Everybody went crazy ... yelling and clapping! It was Hilarious!

Capt Garry hopes to participate with anyone that has a benefit to help young or old learn to fish. Contact Capt Garry on the CONTACT page!
